Premier League club Chelsea and Championship outfit Leicester City will lock horns with each other in the FA Cup this weekend. The quarter-final tie between Mauricio Pochettino’s side and Enzo Maresca’s team will be held at Stamford Bridge in London and is scheduled to kick off at 12:45 pm UK time on Sunday.

Chelsea

Chelsea are not having the best of seasons. Just like the last campaign, the Blues are not going to end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season. Chelsea have already lost the final of the Carabao Cup to Liverpool this season and have just the FA Cup to play for between now and the end of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 39 points from 27 matches. Chelsea are 16 points behind Aston Villa, who are fourth and have played 28 games. It has been a really poor campaign for the London club.

Chelsea will head into the FA Cup tie against Leicester City on the back of a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League. It came after a 2-2 draw with Brentford away from home in the London derby in the league.

Team News:

Chelsea are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Leicester City. Djordje Petrovic will be in goal for the Blues. Malo Gusto, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella will be the four defenders. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo will be the two holding midfielders. Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Raheem Sterling will be the three attacking midfielders. Nicolas Jackson will lead the line for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners

Leicester City

Leicester City are doing extremely well at the moment. The Foxes are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the last campaign. There is a very good chance that they will end up in the top two of the league table this season.

Enzo Maresca’s side are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 82 points from 37 matches. Leicester are three points above Leeds United, who are second and occupy the final automatic promotion to the Premier League table. Ipswich Town are third with 78 points from 37 games.

Leicester will head into the FA Cup tie against Chelsea this weekend on the back of a 2-2 draw with Hull City away from home in the Championship. It came after a 1-0 victory over Sunderland away from home at the Stadium of Light in the league which followed a 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers in front of their fans.

Team News:

Leicester City are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Mads Hermansen will be in goal for the Foxes. Hamza Choudhury, Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard and James Justin will be the four defenders. Harry Winks and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will be the two holding midfielders for the Foxes. Fatawu Issahaku, Yunus Akgun and Stephy Mavididi will be the three attacking midfielders. Jamie Vardy will lead the line for Leicester.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Chelsea have lost 10 matches in the Premier League so far this season.
  • Cole Palmer has scored 13 goals and given 11 assists in 33 matches in all competitions for Chelsea this season.
  • Nicolas Jackson has scored 12 goals and given 3 assists in 31 matches in all competitions for Chelsea this season.
  • Leicester City have lost just 7 games in the Championship so far this campaign.
  • Jamie Vardy has scored 15 goals and given 1 assist in 28 games for Leicester City so far this campaign.

Conclusion

Leicester City are doing well in the Championship, but they are a club in the second tier of English football. Chelsea are not having the best of times, but they have a better team than the Foxes and are at home for the tie. It is very likely that they will win the match.
