Chelsea and Sheffield United will lock horns with each other in the Premier League this coming weekend. The match between Mauricio Pochettino’s side and Chris Wilder’s team will be held at Stamford Bridge in London and is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm UK time on Saturday.

Chelsea

Chelsea have a terrible campaign last season, and this term things were supposed to be different. Former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino took over as the Chelsea manager in the summer of 2023, and results were expected to be great.

Things are still bad. While there have been occasions when Chelsea have been brilliant, they have been very inconsistent and have struggled to score goals. The Blues are nowhere near to challenging for the Premier League title this season and may not even end up in the top four.

Chelsea are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 19 points from 16 matches. The London club are as many as 14 points behind defending champions Manchester City, who are currently fourth and hold the final UEFA Champions League spot. The Blues will head into the match against Sheffield United on the back of a 2-0 loss at the hands of Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Premier League last weekend.

Team News:

Chelsea are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Sheffield United. Djordje Petrovic is likely to be in goal for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners. Reece James is injured. Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile will be the two centre-backs. Marc Cucurella will be the left-back. Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo will be the two holding midfielders. Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and  Mykhailo Mudryk will be the three attacking midfielders and will have Armando Broja up front.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United recently sacked Paul Heckingbottam and replaced him with Chris Wilder. Wilder is a Blades managerial legend, and he is expected to make sure that the Yorkshire club do not get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

United are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just eight points from 16 matches. The Blades are five points behind 17th-placed Everton. They are not cut adrift yet and could still end up above the bottom three come the end of the season.

Chris Wilder’s side will head into the Premier League match against Chelsea on the back of a 1-0 win against Brentford at home in the league. It came after a 2-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool in front of their own fans in the Premier League.

Team News:

Sheffield United are likely to likely to line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation against Chelsea. Wes Foderingham will be in goal for the Blues. Jayden Bogle, Anel Ahmedhodzic, Jack Robinson and Auston Trusty will be the four defenders. Vinicius Souza will be the holding midfielder. James McAtee, Gustavo Hamer, Andre Brooks and Cameron Archer will be the four attacking midfielders and will have William Osula up front in attack.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Chelsea have scored 26 goals in 16 Premier League matches this season.
  • Chelsea have conceded 26 goals in 16 Premier League matches this season.
  • Sheffield United have won 2 of their last 6 Premier League games.
  • Sheffield United have lost 12 out of 16 Premier League games this campaign.
  • Nicolas Jackson has scored 6 goals and given 1 assist in 15 Premier League matches for Chelsea this season.

Conclusion

It is not always easy to predict which Chelsea will turn up on a particular day. The Blues can be very good one day and be really bad then very next day. Sheffield United will have a go at the Blues, and it is very likely that they will pick up a point from the encounter.
