Crystal Palace and Fulham will lock horns with each other in the Premier League next week. The London derby between the Eagles and the Cottagers will be held at Selhurst Park and is scheduled to kick off at 3pm UK time next Monday (Boxing Day).

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are an established club in the Premier League and tend to finish in mid-table. That has been the case for a while, and it is not going to change anytime soon. The Eagles are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 19 points from 14 matches, 10 points behind London rivals and fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur (who have played 15 games) and six points above the relegation zone.

Palace’s last Premier League game was on November 12 before the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The Eagles went down 1-0 to Nottingham Forest away from home at City Ground in the Premier League. It followed a defeat to Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the third round of the EFL Cup.

Team News:

Crystal Palace should be close to full strength, with Joachim Andersen and Jordan Ayew their only players involved at the World Cup. Neither made it out of their group and so should be fully rested. The Eagles will be without Marc Guehi though due to suspension.

Fulham

Fulham are doing extremely well in the Premier League at the moment. The Cottagers won promotion from the Championship at the end of last season and were expected to fight for survival in the top flight of English football. However, things are doing very well for Marco Silva’s side.

The London club are as high as ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 19 points from 15 matches. Fulham are 10 points behind London rivals and fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played 15 times. The Cottagers are six points above the relegation zone.

Fulham will head into the London derby against Crystal Palace away from home at Sehurst Park on Boxing Day on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Craven Cottage in the Premier League. The match was held back on November 13 before the 2022 Qatar World Cup. It came after a 2-1 defeat to defending champions Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.

Team News:

Fulham should not be too affected by the 2022 Qatar World Cup, with none of their six players at the tournament making it beyond the last-16 stage. Aleksandar Mitrovic failed to make it out of the group with Serbia and so should be raring to go for his club, having scored nine Premier League goals in 12 appearances so far this season.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Wilfried Zaha has scored 6 gaols and given 2 assists for Crystal Palace.
  • Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored 9 goals for Fulham.
  • Crystal Palace have lost 3 of their last 6 Premier League games.
  • Fulham have lost 2 of their last 6 Premier League games.
  • Crystal Palace have scored 15 goals in 14 Premier League matches.

Conclusion

Both Crystal Palace and Fulham have good teams and quality players who can make a difference at any point in any game. It is very likely that the two London clubs will cancel each other out and will play out a draw in this Premier League game.
