Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers will lock horns with each other in the Premier League this coming weekend. The match between the Eagles and the Wolves will be held at Selhurst Park in London and is scheduled to kick off at 2pm UK time next Sunday.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace did extremely well after Roy Hodgson was appointed the club’s head coach. Palace looked set to get relegated to the Championship, but Hodgson saved the team. The London club ended up as high as 11th in the Premier League table with 45 points from 38 matches. Finishing above the likes of Chelsea, West Ham United and Everton was an achievement in itself.

Palace are not doing particularly well at the moment, although it must not noted that the London club are not doing badly either. The Eagles are 11th in the league table now with four points from three matches. Palace kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United away from home. It followed a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at home in the London derby, and then they played out a 1-1 draw with Brentford on the road in the London derby.

The Eagles will take on Plymouth Argyle away from home iin EFL Cup Second Round South on Tuesday evening. They will then take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Selhurst Park in the Premier League next Sunday. The main objective of Palace this season will be to stay in the top division, but the London club will try to push into the top half of the table.

Team News:

Crystal Palace are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Edouard will lead the line for the Eagles. Ayew, Eze and Schlupp will be the three attacking midfielders behind him. Doucoure and Lerma will be the two sitting midfielders. Ward, Andersen, Guehi and Mitchell will be the four defenders and will have Sam Johnstone behind them in goal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers did not have a particularly good campaign in the Premier League last season. Wolves did look like they could get relegated to the Championship at the end of last season, but they eventually ended up 13th in the standings with 41 points from 38 games. Julen Lopetegui was superb in his role as the Wolves boss.

However, Lopetegui stepped down from his role as the Wolves boss just a few weeks ago, as the Wanderers struggled with financial issues, sold some of their best players, and did not bring in new players. Gary O’Neil is now in charge of Wolves, and his main objective this season is to make sure that the team stay in the top division.

Wolves are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with three points from three matches. The Wanderers are kicked off their league campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League. It followed a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion at home in the league, and then came the narrow 1-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Team News:

Wolverhampton Wanderers are likely to line up in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Fabio Silva will lead the line for Wolves. Matheus Cunha will be behind him acting as the playmaker. Neto, Joao Gomes, Lemina and Hwang Hee-chan will be the four midfielders. Nelson Semedo, Dawson, Kilman and Bueno will be the four defenders and will have Jose Sa behind them in goal.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Crystal Palace have scored 2 goals in 3 Premier League matches.
  • Crystal Palace have conceded 2 goals in 3 Premier League matches.
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers have conceded 5 goals in 3 Premier League games.
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers have scored 2 goals in 3 Premier League games.
  • Jordan Ayew has scored 2 goals in 3 Premier League matches.

Conclusion

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be feeling confident after the win this past weekend and will fancy at least a point at Selhurst Park in London. However, Crystal Palace are the home team and do have a good bunch of players. It is hard to see Roy Hodgson’s side lose the match. Palace could end up picking up all three points from the encounter courtesy of a narrow win.
