Hibernian and Celtic will face each other in the Scottish Premiership this week. The match between Hibs and the Hoops will be held at Easter Road in Edinburgh and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Wednesday.

Hibernian

Hibernian are an established club in the Scottish Premiership who tend to finish in mid-table. The Easter Road outfit finished eighth in the Scottish Premiership table last season, and they could end up in a similar position in the standings this time around.

Lee Johnson’s side are seventh in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 23 points from 18 matches. Hibernian are eight points above second from bottom Ross County and two points behind third-placed Aberdeen.

Hibernian will head into the match against defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on the back of a 4-0 hammering of Livingston at Easter Road in Edinburgh. It followed a 3-2 defeat to Rangers away from home at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership and came after a 1-0 loss at the hands of Kilmarnock on the road in the league.

Team News:

Mykola Kukharevych could be back in action and could be part of the Hibernian substitutes’ bench.

Celtic

Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title last season with relative ease. There was not much competition from Celtic’s bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers, and it looks as if the Hoops are going to march to the championship title again this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 51 points from 18 matches. Celtic are as many as nine points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers, who have new manager in charge now, Michael Beale.

Celtic will head into the match against Hibernian at Easter Road in Edinburgh on Wednesday evening on the back of a 4-1 victory over St Johnstone at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership. It followed a 2-1 win against Livingston at home in the league.

Team News:

Celtic will be without David Turnbull due to suspension. Jota and Liel Abada both could start for the defending Scottish Premiership champions.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Hibernian have scored 24 goals in 18 Scottish Premiership matches.
  • Celtic have score 57 goals in 18 Scottish Premiership matches.
  • Hibernian have conceded 26 goals in 18 Scottish Premiership games.
  • Celtic have conceded 15 goals in 18 Scottish Premiership games.
  • Kyogo Furuhashi has scored 13 goals in 16 Scottish Premiership matches.

Conclusion

Hibernian are a decent side, but Celtic are the best team in the Scottish Premiership and should be able to win against Hibs at Easter Road with ease. While Hibernian could score a goal, Celtic should bang in a few themselves and should be able to continue their march towards the league title.

Prediction: Celtic to win 3-1

Best Odds: 9/1
