Juventus and Empoli will lock horns with each other in Serie A this weekend. The match between Thiago Motta’s side and Roberto D’Aversa’s team will be held at Juventus Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 11:30am UK time on Sunday.

Juventus

Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have lofty ambitions for this season. The Bianconeri were aiming to win Serie A and also go far in the UEFA Champions League, but things have not gone according to plan.

Thiago Motta’s side are as low as fifth in the Serie A table at the moment with 37 points from 22 matches. Juventus are two points behind fourth-placed Lazio and are as many as 16 points behind leaders Napoli. Juventus also failed to finish in the top eight in the League Stage in the UEFA Champions League and need to go through the playoffs for the right to play in the Round of 16 of Europe’s premier club competition.

Juventus will head into the Serie A match against Empoli on Sunday on the back of a 2-0 victory over Benfica at Juventus Stadium in the UEFA Champions League. It came after a 2-1 defeat to Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Serie A, which followed a goalless draw with Club Brugge away from home in Belgium in the UEFA Champions League.

Team News:

Juventus are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Empoli at Juventus Stadium in Serie A on Sunday. Mattia Perin will be in goal for the Bianconeri. Timothy Weah, Federico Gatti, Pierre Kalulu and Weston McKennie will be the four defenders. Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz will be the two holding midfielders. Francisco Conceicao, Kenan Yildiz and Samuel Mbangula will be the three attacking midfielders. Dusan Vlahovic will lead the line for Juventus.

Empoli

Empoli are a modest club in Italy who are happy just to be part of the 20-team Italian top flight. Roberto D’Aversa’s side finished 17th in the Serie A table last season, and one suspects that the Stadio Carlo Castellani faithful will be happy to end up in a similar position this time around.

Azzurri Empolesi are among the clubs in danger of getting relegated to Serie B at the end of the season. Empoli are 16th in the league table at the moment with 21 points from 22 matches. They are a point above the relegation zone.

Empoli will head into the Serie A match against Juventus at Juventus Stadium on Sunday on the back of a 1-1 draw with Bologna at home in the league. It came after a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan at San Siro which followed a 3-1 loss to Lecce in front of their fans.

Team News:

Empol are likely to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation against Juventus. Devis Vasquez will be in goal for the visiting team. Saba Goglichidze, Adrian Ismajli and Mattia Viti will be the three defenders. Emmanuel Gyasi, Liam Henderson, Alberto Grassi and Giuseppe Pezzella will be the four midfielders. Sebastiano Esposito and Jacopo Fazzini will be the two attacking midfielders. Lorenzo Colombo will lead the line for Empoli.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Juventus have won 2 of their last 6 Serie A matches.
  • Juventus have lost 1 of their 22 Serie A matches this season.
  • Juventus have scored 35 goals and conceded 19 goals in 22 Serie A matches this campaign.
  • Empoli have scored 21 goals and conceded 29 goals in 22 Serie A matches this season.
  • Empoli have lost 9 of their 22 Serie A matches this season.

Conclusion

Empoli are in real danger of getting relegated to Serie B at the end of the season. Juventus are in better form and have a better team. The Bianconeri are also at home for this particular Serie A game and should be able to pick up all three points from the game with relative ease.
