Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig will lock horns with each other in the Champions League this week. The Group H match at the Parc des Princes is slated to kick off at 8pm UK time on Tuesday evening and promises to be a cracking game of football.

Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain reached the final of the Champions League last season and are expected by many to go all the way in Europe’s premier club competition this campaign. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side are not having a great time in Europe and are in danger of not even making it out of the group.

PSG are third in Group H at the moment with just three points from three matches. Manchester United in first and Leipzig in second place have picked up six points each from their respective three games. The French giants suffered a 2-1 loss in Germany in their last Champions League game and went down 3-2 to AS Monaco in Ligue 1 last Friday ahead of Tuesday’s match. For the defending French champions to progress through to the last-16 stage, they have to make sure that they win against Leipzig at home.

Team news:

Neymar returned to action last Friday as he came on as a substitute on the hour mark. The Brazil international forward is likely to start against Leipzig. Midfielder Andrea Herrera missed Friday’s game after suffering a knock in training.

RB Leipzig

Leipzig are doing well in Europe at the moment. The German club are level on points with leaders Manchester United and will fancy their chances of progressing from the group. It is not going to be easy, though, as there are three more rounds of matches left in the group stage, but a draw or a win in Paris on Tuesday evening will certainly enhance their chances of playing in the knockout stages.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side are fourth in the Bundesliga at the moment with 17 points from eight matches, just two points behind Bayern Munich. Leipzig will head into the game against PSG on the back of a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt away from home in the league.

Team news:

Dayot Upamecano recovered from his injury to play at the weekend and is set to start for Leipzig against PSG. Willi Orban is also fit.

Key Factors to Consider

  • PSG have won 13 of their last 21 Champions League matches.
  • Leipzig’s last away game in the Champions League was 5-0 defeat to Manchester United.
  • Leipzig have won 10 of their 19 Champions League games.
  • Tuchel and Nagelsmann met twice in Germany as opposing coaches.
  • PSG got the better of Leipzig in the Champions League semi-finals last season.
  • PSG have reached the knockout stages on their last eight Champions League appearances.

Conclusion

Leipzig have shown that they are no pushovers and are going to give PSG a run for their moment. One would expect the Bundesliga club to score, but with Mbappe scoring goals and Neymar back, the home team should manage to pick up all three points in the end.

Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain to win 2-1

Best Odds: 13/2
