Real Betis and Celta de Vigo will lock horns with each other in La Liga this week. The match between Manuel Pellegrini’s side and Claudio Giráldez’s team will be held at Estadio Benito Villamarín and is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm UK time on Friday.

Real Betis

Real Betis finished sixth in the La Liga table last season and were hoping to fare better this time around. Although it was always going to be hard for the Andalucian club to do better, the expectation was that they would at least maintain last season’s position. They may not do it this time.

Betis are eighth in the La Liga table at the moment with 42 points from 30 matches. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are two points behind Valencia, who are seventh, and are seven points behind Real Sociedad in sixth.

Los Verderones will head into the La Liga match against Celta de Vigo this week on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Girona away from home in the league. It came after a 2-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano away from home in La Liga. It followed losses at the hands of Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.

Team News:

Real Betis are likely to line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation against Celta de Vigo. Rui Silva will be in goal for the home etam. Aitor Ruibai German Pezzella, Chadi Riad and Abner will be the four defenders. Guido Rodriguez will be in holding midfield. Pablo Fornals, Isco, Nabil Fekir and Ayoze Perez will be the four attacking midfielders. Willian Jose will lead the line for Betis.

Celta de Vigo

Celta de Vigo are a modest club in Spain who are just happy to stay in La Liga. They finished 13th in the La Liga table last season and will be more than happy if they manage to end up in a similar position this time around.

Claudio Giráldez’s side are not doing so well at the moment. Celta are as low as 17th in the La Liga table right now. They have picked up 28 points from 30 matches and are three points above the relegation zone.

Celta will head into the La Liga match against Real Betis on the back of a goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano at home in the league. It came after a 2-1 victory over Sevilla on the road in La Liga which followed a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Real Madrid away from home at the Santiago Bernabeu in the league.

Team News:

Celta de Vigo are likely to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Vicente Guaita will be in goal for the visiting team and will have Oscar Mingueza, Carl Starfelt and Carlos Dominguez in front of him in defence. Hugo Alvarez, Fran Beltran, Hugo Sotelo and Manu Sanchez will be the four midfielders. Jorgen Strand Larsen will lead the line for Celta and will have Iago Aspas and Jonathan Bamba behind him in attacking midfield.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Real Betis have lost their last 4 La Liga matches.
  • Real Betis have scored 36 goals and conceded 36 goals in 30 La Liga matches this season.
  • Celta de Vigo have won 2 of their last 5 La Liga games.
  • Celta de Vigo have conceded 44 goals in 30 La Liga games this campaign.
  • Willian Jose has scored 10 goals and given 3 assists in 33 matches in all competitions for Real Betis this season.

Celta de Vigo may be in better form, but Real Betis are at home and also have the better team. Celta are in real danger of getting relegated to the Segunda Division at the end of the season, and that pretty much sums them up. It is hard to see anything but a win for Betis in this particular game.

Prediction: Real Betis to win 2-0

Best Odds: 9/1
