Real Madrid and Celta de Vigo will face each other in La Liga this weekend. The match at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano is slated to kick off at 8pm UK time on Saturday.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid will head into the match against Celta on the back of a 1-1 draw wit Elche away from home in La Liga. Elche are in danger of going down to the Segunda Division at the end of the season, and defending Spanish champions Madrid were expected to win. However, Zinedine Zidane’s side were lacklustre and probably did not deserve all three points from the encounter.

Madrid are second in the La Liga table at the moment with 33 points from 16 matches. Los Blancos are two points behind leaders and city rivals Atletico Madrid, who have played 14 games. Zidane’s team do need to step up and win games against the likes of Elche and Celta.

Team news:

Eden Hazard returned from injury against Elche as a substitute, and the former Chelsea attacking midfielder could start against Celta.

Celta de Vigo

Celta de Vigo are eighth in the La Liga table at the moment with 23 points from 16 matches. Eduardo Coudet’s side are a point off the Europa League places and will fancy their chances of at least challenging for Europe this season.

The Sky Blues will head into the match against Madrid on the back of  a 2-1 victory over Huesca at home in La Liga. While Los Blancos will head into the match as favourites, the visiting team will be determined to pick up at least a point.

Team news:

Iago Aspas, who has scored nine goals and provided six assists in La Liga so far this season, is likely to play upfront alongside Santi Mina.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Real Madrid have scored 28 goals in 16 La Liga matches.
  • Celta de Vigo have scored 22 goals in 16 La Liga matches.
  • Real Madrid have conceded 15 goals in 16 La Liga games.
  • Celta de Vigo have conceded 22 goals in 16 La Liga games.
  • Karim Benzema has scored eight goals and provided five assists in the league.

Conclusion

Madrid have shown that they are vulnerable and do not always play well, and Celta will be encouraged by that. However, it is very likely that Los Blancos will get their act together after the disappointing result against Elche and pick up all three points this weekend.

Prediction: Real Madrid to win 2-1

Best Odds: 13/2
