Slovakia and Wales will lock horns with each other in a friendly international match this weekend. The game between Francesco Calzona’s side and Rob Page’s team will be held at Stadion Antona Malatinskeho in Trnava, Slovakia and is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 pm UK time on Sunday.

Slovakia

Slovakia are a modest footballing nation, but they will play in the UEFA Euro 2024 finals in Germany this summer. It is the third time in a row that they have qualified for Europe’s premier international football.

The Falcons finished second in Group J after winning seven of their 10 matches in the qualifying campaign. Slovakia did not have the best of times in March, though. They lost to Austria and played out a draw with Norway in the two friendly international games.

Slovakia got the better of San Marino in a friendly international match on Wednesday and will be determined to make it two wins out of two when they face Wales on Sunday evening.

Team News:

Wales are likely to line up in a 3-4-3 formation. Ward will be in goal for the visiting team and will have Low, Cabango and Ampadu in front of him in defence. Stevens, J James, Sheehan and Dasilva will be the four midfielders. Johnson, D James and Moore will be the three forwards.

Wales

Wales were aiming to get into the UEFA Euro 2024 finals, but they failed to make the cut in the end. They lost to Poland on penalties in the playoff final in March.

On Thursday, Wales took on Gibraltar. Rob Page’s side could not win against one of the worst teams in the world. It was hugely embarrassing.

On Sunday, Wales will face Slovakia. It is going to be hard for The Dragons to draw the match, but they are certainly going to give it a go.

Team News:

Slovakia are likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation against Wales. Dubravka will be in goal and will have Pekarik, Skriniar, Obert and Hancko in front of him in defence. Duda, Lobotka and Kucka will be the three midfielders. Suslov, Haraslin and Bozenik will be the three forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Slovakia have won 1 of their last 3 friendly international matches.
  • Slovakia have won 4 of their last 6 matches in all competitions.
  • Wales have won 2 of their last 6 matches in all competitions.
  • Wales have drawn 3 of their last 6 matches in all competitions.
  • Slovakia have lost 1 and drawn 1 of their last 6 matches in all competitions.

Conclusion

Neither Slovakia nor Wales have a great team and neither side have  a plethora of world-class players. It is very likely that this game will end in a draw.
