  • Birmingham v Tottenham
  • Birmingham’s fifteen game unbeaten run came to an unceremonious end on Wednesday at Chelsea. They will want to ensure that all the good work they have done is not threatened by two defeats in a row.

Tottenham had a regulation win over Fulham in midweek and still hold fourth place. They will be looking behind them at Villa and Manchester City and they won’t be entirely happy with a point here.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-1

  • Burnley v Chelsea
  • Brian Laws has had a tough start as Burnley manager. His first game was at Old Trafford and then he visited Bolton to play against former Burnley boss Owen Coyle. I bet he couldn’t wait to get a home game where Burnley have been so impressive. A nice easy one would be good!

Chelsea are looking close to unstoppable at the moment and they will have Didier Drogba back for this one. They’ve really missed him haven’t they?

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-3

  • Fulham v Aston Villa
  • Fulham have had rotten luck with injuries and their second fine season in a row is in danger of falling apart a little.

Villa are looking really good still but they have suddenly stopped scoring goals in their league games. I think they’ll be alright here and their victory may just start to raise some concerns at Craven Cottage.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-2

  • Hull v Wolves
  • Second from bottom plays fourth from bottom in a relegation six-pointer. Hull will probably go down and Wolves may well join them. Having said that, Burnley and Portsmouth are favourites to join Hull so Wolves might just escape.

The sensible money is on a goalless draw here because neither side is likely to be good enough to score!

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-0

  • Liverpool v Bolton
  • Fifth from top against sixth from bottom should be an easy game to predict. On paper, Liverpool at home to Bolton should be an easy game to predict.

Having said that, Liverpool are too inconsistent and Bolton are going through a transition under their new boss Owen Coyle.

Despite that, I reckon Liverpool might pick up an increasingly rare three points.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

  • West Ham v Blackburn
  • West Ham stayed out of the drop zone after they drew at bottom club Portsmouth in the week. It was a game that West Ham should have won and they showed enough to make it clear they are better than the teams below them.

Blackburn have had a couple of wins and Big Sam Allardyce will be feeling a little happier with life. He’ll probably be more than satisfied with a point here.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-1

  • Wigan v Everton
  • Everton recovered from their FA Cup defeat by beating Sunderland 2-0 in the week and continuing their climb up the Premier League table.

Wigan lost again and they are without doubt the most inconsistent, and therefore difficult to predict team, in the Premier League.

I fancy Everton to win but I suppose Wigan could win by a cricket score. We’ll just have to wait and see.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-1

    Sunday 31st January

  • Arsenal v Manchester United
  • Third plays second in the biggest game of the weekend. Arsenal were disappointed to drop points at Aston Villa on Wednesday which meant they come into this game behind United rather ahead of them.

United will have been buoyed by their Cup win over City and will be looking forward to sending another message out to another rival in this one.

    I fancy a score draw.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-2

  • Manchester City v Portsmouth
  • City will have been devastated by their defeat at Old Trafford but they will be even more keen to ensure that they take a Champions League qualification place in the league. In order to get back to winning ways you couldn’t hope for a better fixture than being at home to the worst team in the league.

Pompey picked up a point in the week but they were dreadful. They are a mess on and off the pitch and things won’t get any better here.

    SoccerNews prediction: 3-0

    Monday 1st February

  • Sunderland v Stoke
  • Sunderland are on a terrible run and could be slipping into trouble. Stoke are playing well and look to be improving all the time.

Difficult one to call so I’m going to sit on the fence.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-1
