Preston 9/5 to beat Middlesbrough in Tuesday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Preston win

Odds: 9/5 @ Bet 365

Two sides who are enduring very different levels of success entering October, a high-flying Preston will travel to the Riverside on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, although many around the North East were excited to see former defender Jonathan Woodgate take over during the summer, Middlesbrough are in the midst of a struggle. Coming off the back of a season-worst display in their 4-1 hammering at home to Sheffield Wednesday over the weekend, the Reds have now lost back-to-back appearances and have recorded just a single victory since the 20th of August. Continuing to show some glaring defensive issues and someway off mounting any kind of play-off charge, Tuesday could prove to be another tough test for Woodgate’s men.

As for the visitors, while Preston may have been disappointed to have only snatched a point off of Bristol City last weekend, Alex Neil’s men have continued to shine at the start to the season. Arguably the surprise package in the Championship so far, the former Norwich boss has seen his men enjoy a six-match unbeaten run in the second-tier, a run thats stems back to the middle of August. A huge part of Preston’s play-off charge has come thanks to their form in the final third. Already scoring 17 goals, no team in the Championship can boast a better attacking return heading into October.
