Denmark successfully defended their first place in their World Cup qualification group with an easy 3-0 win over Malta.

Sören Larsen helped the Scandinavians to a 1-0 lead after just nine minutes, and Daniel Agger converted a penalty close to the half hour mark.

The third and final goal came from Larsen, who added a second to his personal tally two minutes after the break.

Denmark have seven points from three games, and continue to lead Group 1 ahead of Sweden and Portugal, who trail by two and three points respectively.
