Quick Report: Wigan Athletic 0-2 Manchester United

Manchester United have won the 2007-08 Premiership. A 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic was enough for the Red Devils to stay ahead of Chelsea.

United were given a penalty kick after 32 minutes and Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently missed one against FC Barcelona, was now more successful and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Wigan did show some motivation in the second half but were never close to actually scoring an equaliser.

Veteran Ryan Giggs eventually allowed his team – and manager Sir Alex Ferguson in particular – to relax with his goal from short range with ten minutes to go.

United finish with 87 points from 38 matches. Chelsea have the same amount of points, but their goal record isn’t quite as good.
