Real Madrid deserve La Liga title

Real Madrid clinched the Spanish league title last night with a 3-0 home victory over Athletic Bilbao.

Los Blancos have been outstanding all season and have now confirmed themselves as the new champions of Spain.

Toughest

Real boss Jose Mourinho admitted that it was the toughest of his titles so far.

He told RealMadrid TV: “ I won the league title in Portugal, Italy and England, but this one has been the toughest. I’ve won seven league titles overall and I know what it feels like.

“Barcelona won all their games, as befits the great team that they are. They’ve been winning to the very last day. They are a club with great tradition that knows we deserved to win this title.”

Barcelona

Barcelona have been in decent form this season but Real Madrid have proved that consistent that even the mighty Barca couldn’t prevent them from winning the league. Barcelona are truly a special team, so Real Madrid must have been really good to knock them off their pedestal.

Era

With Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola set to leave the Nou Camp maybe this is a start of a new era of Real Madrid dominance. The team from the Spanish capital had to stand by and watch as Barcelona dominated the domestic and European game.

With the team and manager they have Real Madrid has everything in place to become the team to beat at home and abroad again. The club has a fantastic history and once again they have a team to make them proud.

Siege

Jose Mourinho has built his current Real Madrid team on the siege mentality, the us against the world mentality that he seems to build at every club he manages. This seems to help his sides gain victory and build a strong team spirit amongst his players.

Improvement

Real have improved immensely from last year and are producing victories on a more consistent basis this season. Part of that is the form and maturing of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward scored lots of goals last year but he seems to have added something to his game this season.

Ronaldo seems to have played less selfishly this season and contributed more to the team. This is the kind of change in attitude that could just win him the Ballon d’Or next year. It could also take him out of the shadow of Barca’s Lionel Messi.

For too many years Ronaldo has been lagging behind the Argentinian because of his perceived arrogance and selfishness. A little more humility from Ronaldo will go along way.

Future

There has been speculation over whether Jose Mourinho will stay in Spain or not. Every week there seems to be a different story coming out in the Spanish press about his future. If Real are going to have a period of extended dominance then it is vital that Jose Mourinho stays with the club.

However if he leaves then Real Madrid could fall just as quickly as they rose. Before Mourinho arrival Barcelona had a stranglehold on their capital rivals. Mourinho’s departure could cause unrest at the club.

Mourinho’s departure from other clubs has resulted in the teams fortunes taking a turn for the worse. The likes of Porto, Chelsea and Inter took years to recover from his exit and in Inter’s case are still struggling to replace him.

Real Madrid’s side is quite young compared to previous Real Madrid title winning sides. Mourinho has got the best out of some of his young players and a different coach may not have got the same out of the same group of young players.

Jose Mourinho has set the foundations for Real Madrid to become a great team. Some might say that Real Madrid is already a great team but in Madrid they won’t be considered that until they claim the Holy Grail that is the Champions League trophy.

Celebration

For now though the team will be concentrating on finishing their La Liga programme and celebrating their great achievement. Real Madrid have won their first La Liga title since 2008 and I’m sure the Madridista’s will be celebrating for months to come.

With Mourinho at the helm though it definitely won’t be the last trophy heading to the Bernabeu in the near future. Well done Real Madrid.

Did Real Madrid deserve to win La Liga?

.. and let me just add that this solidifies Jose Mourinho as the smartest coach in football. His track record is really impressive. Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and now, Real Madrid. And yes, he’s truly right when he said that this is his hardest, coz let’s face it, the egos with the Real Madrid players are as big as jupiter but yet, he managed to shrink em down and let them play as a team.

.. some might argue that Chelsea and Inter and Madrid have the financial muscle to support Jose. But look what happened at Chelsea and Inter when he left. At The Blues they had Grant then Scolari then Wilkins then Hiddink and finally Carlo, it was not until Carlo that they were successful again. And with Inter Milan, they got Rafa Benitez, who did nothing but to complain. Both Chelsea and Inter have the same players during the time of Jose but the next coach never managed to keep em together.

.. are you trying to say that we have a “mafia” within La Liga, just like what happened to Seria A three seasons ago ??

No, they don’t deserve the title. Had other teams played Madrid the way they played Barcelona, the league would’ve been more consistent. Bilbao, Atl. Madrid, Sevilla all played differently against Barcelona, with more intensity; whereas, when they played Madrid, they allowed them to easily defeat them. The only teams to have given Real Madrid true intense games with the desire to win were Barcelona and Valencia. Madrid definitely did not deserve the title, especially the manner in which they celebrated it yesterday.
