Real Madrid eye Robert Lewandowski as Erling Haaland alternative

Real Madrid are interested in signing Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich if they are unable to bring in Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, according to AS. Dortmund striker Haaland is one of the top targets of Madrid, but if they cannot sign the Norway international, then they will move for Poland international Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has scored five goals in three Bundesliga appearances already this season. During the 2020-21 campaign, the striker found the back of the net 41 times in the league and gave seven assists. In 2019-20, the former Borussia Dortmund striker scored 34 goals and provided four assists in the league.

Haaland has scored three goals and provided two assists in three Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund so far this season. The 21-year-old Norway international striker scored 27 goals and gave six assists in the Bundesliga, and scored 10 goals and gave two assists in eight Champions League appearances last season.
