With the transfer window now shut we take a look at who moved to and from Italy’s Serie A.
The Italian market was relatively quiet but there were still some major players on the move on transfer deadline day.
Inter
On the last day of the transfer window there were some major moves at the Nerazzurri. Superstar striker Samuel Eto’o had left for a big money to move Russian club Anzhi a few days before deadline day, so he needed to be replaced.
Inter managed to bring in two high profile replacements for the Cameroon international. Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan arrived at the Giuseppe Meazza from Spanish club Atletico Madrid for a fee in the region of £5million.
The 32 year-old striker had been prolific in the Spanish top flight with Atletico and previously Villarreal.
The second striker to arrive at the club was fellow South American Mauro Zarate. The Argentinian arrived on-loan from Serie A rivals Lazio, with a view to a permanent deal in the region of £15million.
Juventus
Juventus signed winger Eljero Elia for a fee of £8million from German Bundesliga side Hamburg. The Dutch winger is highly rated and was believed to be attracting interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
Juve also signed Paraguayan winger Marcelo Estigarribia on a season-long loan deal from Deportivo Maldonado. The 24 year-old was one of his countries stars at the Copa America and also impressed on-loan at Argentinian club Newell’s Old Boys last season. The move could become permanent in the summer for £4.4million if the player impresses.
Elsewhere the Old Lady have allowed Czech defender Zdenek Grygera to move to Premier League club Fulham on a free transfer. The 31 year-old was out of favour with Juve boss Antonio Conte and was allowed to terminate his contract in order to make the move.
Roma
Roma have completed the season-long loan signing of midfielder Fernando Gago from Spanish giants Real Madrid. The 25 year-old defensive midfielder has found first team opportunities hard to come by at the Bernabeu.
If he impresses then the move could become a permanent one for a fee in the region of £5million in the summer.
The club from the Italy capital have also signed former-Chelsea striker Fabio Borini on another season-long loan deal from Parma, which could become a permanent move next summer for £8million. Borini only joined Parma this summer on a free transfer from Chelsea.
Fiorentina
The Viola have signed experienced striker Santiago Silva from Argentinian club Velez Sarsfield for an undisclosed fee. The 30 year-old striker has previously had stints in European football in Germany and Portugal.
AC Milan
The champions have strengthened their midfield with the signing of midfielder Antonio Nocerino from Palermo for an undisclosed fee. The 26 year-old has previously played at Juventus and Genoa. Nocerino could prove a key addition to the squad with French midfielder Mathieu Flamini ruled out for six months.
