Roberto Martinez to replace Steve Bruce at Newcastle?

According to Football Insider, Roberto Martinez is the leading candidate to replace Steve Bruce as the Newcastle United manager. It has been reported that Bruce is under pressure at the Magpies, who are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.

Should Bruce lose his managerial role at Newcastle, then the Premier League club plan to appoint former Everton boss Martinez as their new manager. The Spaniard is in charge of the Belgium national football team at the moment and has a contract until the end of the 2022 World Cup finals.

Newcastle are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 28 points from 29 matches, just two points above third-from-bottom Fulham, who have played 30 games. It would be a disaster for the Magpies if they get relegated, and it is hard to see Martinez take charge of a team in the Championship.
