Hosts Venezuela and one of the tournament’s favorites Argentina have held each other to a 1-1 draw at the Sudamericano Sub 20 on Monday.

Venezuela were handed a rather controversial penalty in the second minute. Salomon Rondon had his spot kick blocked by keeper Luis Ojeda but did manage to score in the rebound.

But a low diagonal shot from inside the area by Eduardo Salvio levelled the score twenty minutes later.

As a result, Argentina and Venezuela share second place in Group A. Ecuador lead after beating Peru 2-1 earlier on, and Colombia don’t start their tournament until Wednesday.
