Sao Paulo gave away a comfortable 0-2 lead to eventually draw 2-2 with city rivals Palmeiras.

The two sides both needed a win to maintain pressure on league leaders Gremio.

Only eight minutes had been played when both sides had a player sent off: Diego Souza for Palmeiras and Borges for Sao Paulo.

At this point, Sao Paulo had already taken the lead through goalkeeper Rogério Ceni, well known for his free kick abilities.

Dagoberto added a second just before the break and the visitors seemed to be heading for a comfortable win.

But Kléber got one back for Palmeiras in the 78th minute and Leandro netted the equaliser two minutes later.

Palmeiras now have to share their second place with Cruzeiro, at one point from leaders Gremio. Sao Paulo are fourth at another two points.
