Schwarzer pens new one year deal with Chelsea

Sky Sports understand that Mark Schwarzer has signed a new one year deal with Chelsea.

The veteran goalkeeper moved to Stamford Bridge last summer, making twelve appearances in all competitions under manager Jose Mourinho.

Of the players still plying their trade in the Premier League, just Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has made more appearances in the English top flight than the former Australia international, who has turned out five-hundred-and-eight times across spells with Middlesbrough, Fulham and the Blues.

Fellow goalkeeper Henrique Hilario has left Chelsea after eight years with the club, while the immediate future of both Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtios remain uncertain.

Courtois, who is currently preparing for Belgium’s round of sixteen clash with the USA at the World Cup in Brazil, has spent the past three seasons in La Liga with Atletico Madrid while Cech is contracted to Chelsea until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
