Sheffield United want Mason Holgate from Nottingham Forest

Sheffield United are interested in signing Mason Holgate from Premier League rivals Everton in the final days of the January transfer window, according to Football Insider. The report has claimed that the Blades are on the hunt for a new central defender, and that the Yorkshire club have registered interest in Holgate.

Holgate is on loan at Southampton in the Championship from Premier League outfit Everton. The 27-year-old, who can also play as a right-back, has made four starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship and has played once in the FA Cup for the Saints this season.

Sheffield United are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Everton currently find themselves 17th in the standings with 17 points from 21 games, a point above the relegation zone.
