Sporting close on Mitroglou

Sporting Lisbon are in advanced talks to sign Greek striker Kostas Mitroglou from Fulham, A Bola can reveal.

Bryan Ruiz recently left Craven Cottage to sign for the Lions and he could now be joined at Estadio Jose Alvalade by one of his former teammates.

Namely, the latest reports suggest that forward Kostas Mitroglou will be joining Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan.

The Lions will pay around €1 million for the deal, but it remains to be seen whether a buy-out clause will be included.

Sporting decided to turn their attention to the Greece star after their attempt to lure Ricky van Wolfswinkel back to the club failed through due to the player’s high wage demands.

Kostas Mitroglou, who has 8 goals in 40 Greece caps, failed to prove his worth in English Premier League, making mere three league appearances, but he then went on to score 16 goals in 24 league fixtures while on loan at Olympiakos.
