Standard, Sevilla survive group phase

Standard de Liege and Sevilla secured their spots in the next round of the UEFA Cup with comfortable home wins over Sampdoria and Partizan Beograd respectively.

Standard maintained their perfect record with a 3-0 victory over Italian side Sampdoria. De Camargo scored the opener in the 23rd minute, Onyewu added the second in the 35th and Jovanovic netted the third just before the break.

In Spain meanwhile, Sevilla vounced back from their loss to Standard last month with a 3-0 win over Partizan.

Brazilian Luis Fabiano converted a penalty on 32 minutes and Renato doubled the lead just after the break. The third and final goal came from Luis Fabiano in the 73rd minute.

With Standard and Sevilla through, the third berth will go to either VfB Stuttgart or Sampdoria.
