Sunderland have signed IFK Gothenburg striker David Moberg Karlsson on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old arrives at the Premier League side having already played for Sweden, as well as being capped 11 times at Under-19 level.
Karlsson began his youth career with Swedish side IFK Mariestad before making the move to Gothenburg in 2010 as a 16-year-old.
The forward becomes Paolo Di Canio’s fourth addition at the Stadium of Light as the club look to improve on last season’s disappointing campaign, which ended with an anxious relegation battle.
Karlsson joins Modibo Diakite, Duncan Watmore, Valentin Roberge and Cabral in putting pen to paper with Sunderland in the last month.
The club will face Fulham at home in their first game of the new Premier League season on August 17.
