Sven-Goran Eriksson to coach Mexico

According to CNN in Spain, Manchester City manager, Sven-Goran Erikson, is said to have reached a verbal agreement with the Mexican Federation of Futbol (FMF) to become their next national team coach.

Legendary Hugo Sanchez was recently sacked as manager of Mexico, after having failed to qualify for this summer’s Olympics with the Under-23 team – a team he also coached.

It has been suggested that the Swede would be getting as much as US$7 million, plus a bonus of US$1 million if Mexico make it to South Africa.

“A new manager will be presented in June.”, said press chief Juan Jose Cochen.

I don’t blame him for leaving and taking on this job. Thaksin will regret this and perhaps he will realize that running a football club is different from most things he has tried in life.
