Toko Ekambi very close to joining Lyon

Lyon’s start to the campaign has not been great and Sylvinho got sacked in the process. Now, the team is slowly improving and climbing up the standings of the Ligue 1. With that, they are also trying to improve their squad, which is why they turned their attention to Spain.

According to a report from France Football, Lyon are set to sign Karl Toko Ekambi from Villarreal in a deal worth around 20 million euros. The main reason for this move in the transfer market is Memphis Depay’s crucial ligament tear which meant that the Dutchman will even miss Euro 2020, but also that the Ligue 1 side are in need of attacking reinforcements.

The Cameroon striker is the one expected to do the job in Depay’s absence. He already played in Ligue 1, with Angers, where he had two prolific seasons. That was just before the 27-year-old made a move to Villarreal, where he has six goals this season in less than 1000 minutes of La Liga football.
