Tottenham Hotspur agree Cristian Romero deal with Atalanta

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Atalanta to sign Cristian Romero in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports. It has been reported that Premier League club Tottenham will pay Italian outfit Atalanta £42.7m (€50m) plus bonuses for the 23-year-old Argentina international.

Romero, who won the Copa America with Argentina this summer, will fly to London in the next 24 hours to complete the move to Spurs. The young defender will then agree personal terms before putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The Argentine is one of the best central defenders in Serie A and helped Atalanta finish third in the league table last season. Romero made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club, who are bringing in Merih Demiral to replace the Argentine.
