Tottenham Hotspur wanted £40m for Harry Winks

Tottenham Hotspur wanted £40 million for Aston Villa and Everton target Harry Winks in the summer transfer window, according to The Times. Everton and Villa wanted to sign Winks from Premier League rivals Spurs, but the North London club’s insistence of asking for £40 million put off both the Villans and the Toffees.

Winks himself did not want to leave Spurs and was keen on staying at the Premier League and re-established himself in the first team. The 25-year-old made nine starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League last season. The England international also scored one goal and gave one assist in eight Europa League matches for Spurs in 2020-21.

So far this season, Winks has made one start and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Spurs.
