(GSM) – Villarreal have taken the lead in Europa League Group D following a narrow win over PAOK, while Dinamo Zagreb and Club Brugge held each other to a goalless draw.

After losing their group stage opener to Dinamo, Villarreal got things back on track with a home win over Brugge. Against PAOK, the Spanish did enough to jump to the top spot in this group.

The match in the city of Villarreal, just north of Valencia, had been under way for 38 minutes when Marco Ruben scored the opener and as it turned out, the only goal of the match.

Dinamo needed a victory over Belgian side Club Brugge in order to defend their top spot in Group D, but the Croatians failed to score and were held to a 0-0 draw.

As such, Villarreal now lead the group with six points from three games. Dinamo and PAOK each have four points but the former have the better goal difference. Brugge are in last place with two points.
