Under 2.5 goals at Middlesbrough vs Wigan 8/11 for Tuesday’s Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 8/11 @ Bet 365

Still looking to pick up their first victory of the season, a struggling Middlesbrough will welcome Wigan to the Riverside on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, although many have been excited by Jonathan Woodgate’s arrival over the summer, Middlesbrough find themselves in the midst of a real struggle. Putting in another sluggish display in their 1-0 defeat away at Blackburn last weekend, the former England defender has seen his side lose their last three matches on the spin, including crashing out of the League Cup at the hands of League Two outfit Crewe last week. There is no doubt that fans in the North East will have growing concerns over their sides form in the final third. Middlesbrough have failed to record a single strike in their last two Championship matches on the bounce.

As for the visitors, also coming off the back of a flat showing in their 2-0 defeat at home to Leeds over the weekend, Wigan appear to be a side destined for another relegation scrap this time around. Unable to build off of their shock victory over Cardiff on their opening fixture, Paul Cook’s men are also enduring a three-match losing streak and saw their League Cup dreams coming crashing apart away at Stoke last week. Now failing to record a single strike in any competition in almost 300 minutes of action, we’re backing a low scoring encounter at the Riverside on Tuesday.
