United lining up Schweinsteiger bid

Manchester United are lining up a £20m bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to the Express.

The Germany international, who is currently preparing for the World Cup finals, has regularly been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few seasons, and now looks set to be offloaded by manager Pep Guardiola.

He is one of a number of targets identified by new United boss Louis van Gall, who will begin work with the Premier League club once he has finished guiding the Netherlands in Brazil this summer.

Schweinsteiger’s teammates Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos had also been on the club’s radar though the former has signed a new deal at Bayern and the latter looks set to move to European champions Real Madrid.

United finished in seventh place last season, and can be backed at 4/7 to qualify for the Champions League next time around.
