USA held by El Salvador, Mexico win

The United States have been held to a rather surprising 2-2 draw by El Salvador, while Mexico earned a 2-0 win over Costa Rica.

El Salvador were on their way to a stunning win over the USA with goals from Eliseo Quintanilla and Rodolfo Zelaya in the 15th and 72nd minutes, but the away side fought their way back in the final phase.

Josmer Altidore scored in the 76th minute and the experiencied Frankie Hejduk made it 2-2 with just a few minutes to go.

Mexico did better with a 2-0 win over Costa Rica. Omar Bravo scored the opener in the 19th minute and Pavel Pardo netted the second from the penalty spot in the 52nd.

Trinidad and Tobago earned a hard-fought draw with Honduras in Port-of-Spain. Carlos Pavon had put the guests ahead on 51 minutes but Khaleem Hyland levelled in added time.

After having played two games in this final group, the United States lead with four points. Mexico and Costa Rica share second place with three points each.
