Flamengo president Patricia Amorim has claimed the Brazilian Serie A club is close to sealing the return of striker Vagner Love.
The 27-year-old striker’s future at Russian club CSKA Moscow has been in doubt for some time, with Vagner and Flamengo repeatedly stating an interest in renewing their relationship.
Speaking on Tuesday, Patricia Amorim gave the strongest hint yet that a resolution was close, ensuring a return to the club where Vagner spent a stint on loan in 2010.
“Love is on his way, he is close,” Amorim told Globoesporte.
The striker, speaking at a party to celebrate the New Year in Rio de Janeiro, gave a similar statement of faith.
“Everything is on the right track,” he said.
Flamengo are expected to pay Flamengo a fee of around 6.2 million euros.
Vagner signed for CSKA in 2004 from Palmeiras, and has scored more than 100 goals for the capital club.
