Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is making a temporary comeback for the Dutch national team, as the first two goalkeepers are both injured.

Van der Sar retired from the national team after the European Championships this summer, but did tell new manager Bert van Marwijk that he would be available in case of emergency.

With Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg and his Feyenoord colleague Henk Timmer are both injured, Van Marwijk decided to take advantage of that offer.

Van der Sar accepted and is expected to defend the Dutch goal in the World Cup qualifiers with Iceland and Norway next week.
