Wales will be missing Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas and Cardiff City forward Paul Parry for their World Cup qualifier against Russia in Moscow on Wednesday.

An ankle injury prevented Koumas from travelling to the Russian capital while Parry has abruptly retired from international football after being on the bench in the 1-0 win over Azerbaijan on Saturday.

Parry, 28, had only just returned to the squad after taking a 17-month break while going through a divorce. His decision to retire was reportedly triggered by a clash with manager John Toshack over his lack of involvement on Saturday.

The bust-up represents a blow for Toshack, who had been considering using Parry as a lone forward in Moscow.

There was some good news for the Welsh boss however with Tottenham full-back Gareth Bale, who had been a doubt, being declared fit to play.

The match will be Russia's first in group four of the European qualifying competiton, which also includes Germany.
