West Ham United eye Everton right-back Seamus Coleman

West Ham United are interested in signing Seamus Coleman from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window, according to The Sunday People (print edition, page 57, September 27, 2020). West Ham are looking for a new right-back and have identified the Republic of Ireland international as a potential transfer target.

The report has claimed that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign a new right-back, but it is hard to see the Toffees sell Coleman, especially in a season where they are planning to challenge for the Champions League places. The 31-year-old has been on the books of the Merseyside club since 2009 and is the first-choice right-back at the club.

West Ham narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, and the Hammers could struggle for survival again in the Premier League this campaign. Coleman is unlikely to want to leave Everton and move to West Ham.
