Who will be this seasons surprise package in the Premier League?

As we all know the Premier League kicks-off tomorrow and it promises to be an enthralling campaign.

The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are likely to challenge for the  title with Liverpool and Tottenham as outside bets for the league title.

Surprises

There is unlikely to be much of a change at the top of the Premier League with the same six teams challenging for the top spots in the Premier League. Even former-perennial European challengers Everton have fallen behind thanks to poor finances.

However there is always a team that comes from nowhere and surprises the Premier League establishment. Here I take a look at the teams who I think will be the surprise packages this season:

Everton

Everton have endured a tough summer with manager David Moyes unable to bring in new faces to his squad, due to financial restrictions. However the Scot has assembled a good squad of players at Goodison. The Toffees can give everybody in the top flight a game and are not easy to beat.

The key to Everton being successful this season is top players staying away from injury. Everton have a small squad and in the past few seasons have suffered with injuries. If the club can stay injury free and avoid the perennial poor start to the season Everton could have a very successful season.

West Brom

Under Roy Hodgson West Brom have flourished. The former-Liverpool boss had something to prove when he arrived at the Hawthorns. Hodgson had endured a torrid time in the Anfield dugout and was relieved to get a chance to rebuild his reputation in the Midlands.

West Brom have combined the combative solid style of Hodgson, with the passing style that former-boss Roberto Di Matteo encouraged his side to play. This combination of styles helped the club away from the relegation zone last season.

The new season promises to be a bright one for the Baggies. Hodgson has made some canny signings,  bringing in England keeper Ben Foster and Irish international striker Shane Long. Long scored 24 goals in the Championship last season and he could be a key signing for West Brom.

Swansea

Swansea may have been promoted from the Championship via the play-offs last season but they were by far the best passing side in the English second tier. The Swans were in the top two of the Championship for most of last season before suffering a late dip in form.

They recovered in time to beat Reading 4-2 in the Championship final play-offs. Winger Scott Sinclair played a key role in the clubs promotion and the former-Chelsea ace will be vital in the new season.

The Swans suffered from a slight lack of goals last season but Swans boss Brendan Rodgers has moved to correct that by signing striker Danny Graham from Watford. The striker was outstanding in the Championship last season, scoring 24 league goals.

At the other end of the pitch Swansea were watertight last season. The Swans defence is marshalled superbly by captain Alan Tate and Welsh international Ashley Williams. Swansea will be a hard team to break down and won’t be easy opponents for anybody this season.

Unpredictable

The beauty of football is that it throws up surprise results. Any team in the Premier League can beat any other team. That’s why we love football and the English Premier League in particular. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for the action to kick-off.
