Wolverhampton Wanderers want to sign Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Ethan Ampadu from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window, according to La Nazione. The reporting the Italian news outlet has claimed interested in the 21-year-old Wales international from Empoli, Spezia and Cremonese as well.

Ampadu, who can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, has been on the books of Chelsea since 2017 when he moved from Exeter City. The youngster has yet to establish himself in the London club’s first-team squad, and has had loan spells at RB Leipzig, Sheffield United and Venezia.

It will be interesting to see what Ampadu does. While Chelsea do need centre-backs, it is unlikely that manager Thomas Tuchel will make much use of him as he does not have enough experience. A loan move to Wolves would make sense, especially if the youngster is able to get regular playing time.
