Portuguese giants Benfica are hot on the trail of Union Espanyola midfielder Pablo Ignacio Galdames Milan, according to Radio ADN.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Chile’s hottest prospects and he is reportedly on the radar of Spanish powerhouses Atletico Madrid.

However, it looks as though Benfica have moved to the front of the queue, having become the first side to submit an official bid for the talented footballer.

Radio ADN has learned that the Eagles have offered $1.3 million for 70 per cent of the player’s rights, and they are awaiting a response from Union Espanyola.

The central midfielder has already nailed down a regular starting berth at the club where he began his career, making a total of 29 league appearances and scoring 2 goals.

Galdames also represented Chile at the Under-20 South American Championship earlier this year, but only made one appearance at the tournament finals, starting in the 6-1 loss to hosts Uruguay.
