Benfica in talks for Brazilian starlet

Portuguese giants Benfica are hot on the trail of Palmeiras starlet Gabriel Fernando de Jesus, O Jogo can reveal.

The 18-year-old has already developed into an important member of the squad at Allianz Parque and it won’t be long before he makes a move to Europe.

According to O Jogo, Juventus and AS Roma have already shown interest, but it would appear as though Benfica are in pole position at the moment.

The Eagles are determined to lure the talented attacker to Estadio da Luz at the earliest opportunity, and they have already established initial contact with his current employers.

The only problem at the moment is the high asking price, with Jesus having a €9 million release clause inserted in his contract.

While making eight substitute appearances in the Paulista A1 championship, the talented footballer scored three goals in nine starts in Brazil’s elite division, although his record of 5 yellow cards in 14 games is far from impressive.
