Bertrand joins Villa on loan

Aston Villa have signed Ryan Bertrand on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season, Sky Sports understands.

The full back had made just one Premier League appearances for the Blues this season, and two in the League Cup while despite being named in their Champions League squad, he was not used and made the bench on just one occasion.

He has made over fifty appearances for Chelsea in total, though this his sixth loan spell of his career having previously been with Bournemouth, Oldham Athletic, Norwich City, Reading and Nottingham Forest.

The 24 year old joins a Villa side who sit in eleventh place in the table, though they are just five points above the relegation zone.

He could make his debut at Anfield tomorrow afternoon, where Paul Lambert’s side take on Liverpool, and can be backed at a generous price of 14/1 to take all three points.
