Burnley still want Rodriguez

According to Sky Sports, Burnley are still interested in signing Jay Rodriguez from West Bromwich Albion.

The Clarets tried to get the deal done during this year’s summer transfer window and they submitted a number of offers, their last one amounting to £16million, but WBA wouldn’t even discuss the matter for under £18million.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche’s interest is still ongoing. He is very keen on signing an experienced striker who can also play off the wing if needed to, and Rodriguez fits that description perfectly. He was also interested in Craig Dawson, but his interest in the defender has cooled since the Clarets signed Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough.

Since his £12million move from Southampton in January, Rodriguez has hit the target 19 times for the Baggies, eight of those this season in the Championship.

Should the two clubs fail to reach an agreement again, Burnley are likely to shift their focus on Brentford’s Ollie Watkins, though Brentford apparently value their attacker at £20million.
