Chelsea eye shock move for Valdes

Chelsea are lining up a January move for Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes, according to the Express.

The Blues could be without first choice keeper Thibaut Courtois until December after the Belgium international picked up a knee injury.

Summer signing Asmir Begovic has started two games in Courtois absences through injury and suspension and conceded three goals in both in loss to Manchester City and Saturday’s shock defeat at Everton.

Valdes has been frozen out at Old Trafford, having played just twice since signing back in January.

He has been left out of their Champions League squad and currently has David De Gea, Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone above him in the pecking order.
The former Barcelona man was linked with a move to Besiktas last month though the proposed transfer fell through.

Chelsea have just four points from their opening five league games and can now be backed at 14/1 to retain the title.
