Chelsea reject West Ham move for Emerson Palmieri

West Ham United have been turned down by Chelsea in their pursuit of Emerson Palmieri, according to The Mirror. It has been reported that West Ham enquired about signing the Italy international left-back on loan from Premier League and London rivals Chelsea, but it was rejected.

Emerson is behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order at Chelsea, but manager Frank Lampard does not want to let him go as he wants to keep him as cover. The 26-year-old is struggling for playing time at Stamford Bridge at the moment, and that is unlikely to change in the coming weeks and months.

West Ham need to sign a left-back for the short term. Arthur Masuaku is out injured at the moment, leaving Aaron Cresswell as the only recognised left-back in manager David Moyes’s side. The Hammers are doing well at the moment and could end up in the European places.
