Roberto De Zerbi believes Tottenham’s win over Wolves can transform their fortunes, but he is concerned by his team’s injury issues.

Spurs beat Wolves 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Joao Palhinha’s 82nd-minute goal.

In the process, Spurs claimed their first Premier League victory of 2026, snapping a 15-game winless run in the top tier.

However, Spurs remain in the bottom three, two points behind West Ham, who beat Everton 2-1.

Spurs also lost Xavi Simons to what looked like a significant knee issue, while Dominic Solanke was also forced off injured.

Asked if this win was now a platform for Spurs to scrape to safety, De Zerbi said: “I hope so, but I wouldn’t like to lose any other players; [Cristian] Romero, [Mohammed] Kudus, now Solanke and maybe Xavi.

“I want to be positive but we still played the first 45 minutes very well.

“I think in the first half we played well, we didn’t create big chances to score but anyway we had control of the game. And then, [in the second half] maybe the pressure, we lost distances on the pitch and every one of us wanted to go one-to-one.

“I’m happy for the result. I hope this result can change something in our head and mentality.”

Opta’s supercomputer hands Spurs a 58% chance of going down.
