Everton in talks with Real Madrid over James Rodriguez

Everton are interested in signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports. It has been reported that the Premier League outfit have made an offer to the Spanish and European giants for James, and that talks between the clubs are progressing well, with an agreement over a deal close.

James played under current Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti first at Madrid and then at Bayern Munich, and the Colombia international – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – is reportedly keen on a switch Everton on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old joined Madrid from AS Monaco in the summer of 2014, and has won the La Liga title and the Champions League twice each. James spent the 2017-18 and the 2018-19 seasons on loan at Bayern, and won the Bundesliga title twice. Last season, the Colombia international played just 419 minutes in La Liga and only 81 minutes in the Champions League for Madrid, according to WhoScored.
