Holger Badstuber linked with Stuttgart return

Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber could be returning to Stuttgart in the winter, Stuttgarter Zeitung has suggested.

The 26-year-old spent two years with the Swabians before moving to Munich back in 2002 and he went on to graduate at Allianz Arena.

But, having experienced plenty of problems with injuries over the last couple of years, Badstuber is no longer in the first team plans of Bayern coach Pep Guardiola and may have to leave in search of first team football.

The Bavarians will probably be more than happy to farm him out on loan in January and Stuttgarter Zeitung understands that his former club are ready to pounce.

Namely, Stuttgart have seen major problems at the back ever since Antonio Rudiger moved to AS Roma and they hope Badstuber’s quality and experience would help patch up the leaky defence.

Due to aforementioned injury problems, the talented centre-back has only made 22 Bundesliga appearances over the last two and a half years.
