Lazio to pounce for veteran striker

Lazio ponder a bid for Bologna hitman Marco Di Vaio as the Biancocelesti look to add more quality to their front line.

Coach Edy Reja wants to sign a true goalscorer in January that would help Lazio revive their title bid, and the Biancocelesti are exploring the possibility of bringing Di Vaio back to Olimpico 14 years after he left Rome.

Hugo Almeida and Roque Santa Cruz are also in the mix, but Edy Reja and Claudio Lotito prefer the 34-year-old Di Vaio.

Being in midst of financial difficulties, Bologna could be forced to sell in January, with Lazio ready to jump in on an opportunity to sign Di Vaio at a cut-back price.

Lotito is also hoping to bring Manchester United forward Federico Macheda on loan until the end of the season.
