Roma defender Philippe Mexes says the new midfielder at the club, Jeremy Menez, just needs more time to show what he can do.

Menez missed several opportunities in front of goal in the first match of the season against Napoli last week, and failed to impress the Roma fans.

Mexes said: “Against Napoli everything went the wrong way. We allowed too much space to our opponents and this must never happen.”

“Menez showed some good things, but he can do better,” he added.

“If he was at 100% he wouldn’t have missed that goal, but we must give him time now.”

Menez joined Roma from Monaco in August and has been compared to Zinedine Zidane in France.
